Since 1958, we have rallied with kindred spirits.

OUR HISTORY

In 1958, The then Laird of Kildrummy Estate in upper Donside, Aberdeenshire thought it would be a good idea to invite fellow old-vehicle enthusiasts to get together with their vehicles and show them off to each other and to the public.  It so happens that the field chosen as an arena for this event was in the shadow of one of Scotland’s most ancient and massive ruined castles – Kildrummy Castle.

The rally of kindred spirits proved to be a great success and that single event became the foundation of the Kildrummy Veteran and Vintage Vehicles Club, and the subsequent running of an annual Vintage Car Rally.  As with many historical motor transport rallies, the members of the Club have always focussed on vehicles that are road legal and in running order – and proving their fitness with a road run has been a feature of each rally.

Motor-cycles, cars and lorries of bye-gone times have charmed generations of spectators along the roads of Donside and Aberdeenshire, and the existence of the club has prompted local folk to preserve and restore elderly vehicles that might have otherwise gone to the tip!  This kernel of enthusiasm was partly responsible for the nearby Alford Transport Museum which itself is now a yearlong attraction with a superb and changing display, enhanced by several annual motorsport events.

Kildrummy Castle has a history dating back to the 13th century and is worthy of a visit from anyone interested in the history of Scotland.

Times change and the rally moved away from Kildrummy Estate not far away to Deeside where the tradition and enthusiasm carried on as the members of the club and the annual spectators continued to thrive. But there was always a yearning to one day return back to the original home of the rally.

As fate might have it, motor enthusiasts are once again stewards of Kildrummy Estate and the rally has returned to its rightful home, occupying Castle field with the mighty Kildrummy Castle as its backdrop.

The KVVVC has held annual events and has had entries from some of the finest vehicles in the UK.. Petrolheads with an interest in old motors will find a real treat at our annual event –whether spectating or taking part.  We look forward to welcoming you!
